Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a wizard who lives in Manhattan, a modern city, is now trying to defend the city from another magician named Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina).
But to face him, Balthazar can not do it alone. He then recruited Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a regular guy who seems to show hidden potential as a witch.
Balthazar then gives a crash course in the art and science of magic, with the aim that Dave can help to stop the dark forces.
